Jovi: 13 years and counting

Again I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing one of Stephannie's amazing boys! This time her oldest, Jovi was about to turn 13 and she wanted to get some fun images of him. 13 can be a challenging age to capture. But thankfully this awesome young man has all ready had to put up with me and my crazy camera a few times.

Since he is into boogie boarding, we went down to Seal beach. The day was a bit chilly and we did most of his pictures on the pier but he idd og jump in the water for a few shots!

I wanted to get his personality to show in these images and I think we did a great job of that... he is a bit serious but really opens up when you tell him to have fun.

Kids love to jump.. Well even big kids, the ones my age... and it makes great pictures!

The Rice Family: Holiday Portraits

I have been really blessed this year with the beautiful people from my daughters school! Amber, Rick and their two boys, Quintin and Keaten make up this dynamic group of 4 well add Rascal their kitty in their and that a group of 5! We did this set of pictures at their home. There was no warming up for these two kiddos, as they are both all about having the attention on them. Shocking to me was Mr. Quintin, who was a total camera hog!!!! Please enjoy my favorites form the day:

Kate and Family

A few months back my awesome client Stephannie decided to buy her cousin a portrait session. The session was for little Kate who is one of the most adorable little ladies I have ever photographed. When I contacted Kate's mom, Christine, she wanted to do some family photos as well and we were off to the park to get some fun moments together.

Rob + Jodi & family : portraits

Taking pictures of people I know is one of my favorite things about being a photographer. Where it is a wonderful thing to get to know a bride and her future husband before the wedding and take pictures of their day. It is even greater a pleasure to experience a portrait session with a family who I already know and love.
I have been bugging Jodi to have me capture her family pictures for I guess at least a year now. She was always telling me it would be a bigger challenge than I could anticipate. I assured her I could handle it and finally the timing worked perfectly and we were off! Since Jodi and Rob have put a lot of time and love into their new backyard, we shot their pictures right at their home. I have so many favorite images and had THE most fun taking pictures with all 5 of them. Especially Mr. Zack who was, as always a crazy little ham!!!!!!

Crazy Zack.. I'm not sure if I like him so darn much due to the fact of having my own Zach or because he has been in Susie's class for 2 years and is so entertaining. It was such a great honor to photograph this awesome little family. Robert, Samantha ans Lily were too much fun! They were warning me about the ability of baby Lily to realize the camera is there and then not smile.. but after learning her tricks.. I soon came up with some of my own. I had the best time today with Robert, Samantha and Lily. You might remember Robert and Samantha from their wedding last year. I was so happy to get to shoot their family pictures with the beautiful miss Lily! She is so darn cute, I could take her picture all day long! Samantha and Robert warned me that she is very aware of the camera and will be all smiles until that shutter snaps. Well, yes she was a bit non interested in my camera and would much rather study it instead of smile at it. But, we used all our photographer and parent powers combined and managed to get many smiles on camera of this little lady! We met at the beautiful Scripps College campus in Claremont, I can't get enough of this campus. It's almost like being in downtown Pasadena... almost!

Wow! I have been waiting a while to post that headline! I had to, couldn't resist. How can you not when your name is so rad!!!!

Rachel and Dave share not only a wonderful name but amazing style and a group if incredible friends and family. I was so excited to get the day started at Long Beach Alliance Church. I started off with the beautiful Rachel as her and her ladies were prepping. They alll looked so AMAZING!!!! Rachel's gown was from the Vineyard Collection found at Pricilla of Boston . It was perfectly "her". Gamorous and flirty and just really Rachel! And how excited was I to see see stunning yellow heels to go along!! !WOW what a day this would be.. I knew it would be super fun times 2 since I had the best second by my side, thanks Ryel!

We headed over to get some moments captured during the first glance. Dave is such a sweetheart. He is spontaneous and clever and I would have to agree with Rachel.. quite a catch. This time with the groom is always special. They seem to be nervous but try really hard to keep it together. Most often they start asking me questions.. Dave did this too. Yes, Dave it is kind of weird to see this moment and watch you wait for it.. but at the same time it is magical and dazzling!! Thank you both for letting me be there for it!

The ceremony site was one of the best sets ever!!! The decor of choice was top notch! See below...

Ring bearer, Caden, Rachel's Nephew, was adorable pulling the flower girl in this glamorous wagon!

I tell all my couples what great fun it can be to have a frist glance before the ceremony. A lot of time they are worried that it will steal the emotion of seeing each other at the ceremony. I tell you this.. .If anything.. the emotion is greater!!!! All my grooms who do a first glance are on the edge of tears... and very taken by those big doors reveling their almost wife. Not only does the couple get all teary.. but I do too!!!! Especially when I know and love them so much! The best part of what I do is learning about how two people met and fell in love and why they want to spend the rest of this life together!
So here are Rachel and Dave seeing each other in the sanctuary for the first time! Almonst married!!!!

Meet the Soliven Family

Say hello to one of my favorite families! I met the Soliven's a couple of years ago before the youngest member of the crew was around. Now they are a fantastic family of 5 who are all realy fun.. really creative.. and really cool to be around. I have been bugging Kathy to let me take her babes pictures for a while. They kind of remind me of my own family.. well not that I'm saying all that about myself, but that we have the same interests and the dynamics are a bit alike. You'll see below how their great personalites each shine brightly on their own and how that light just adds to the beauty of them all mixed up together.. Ok now that Kathy and Mike have all that great mushy stuff to tease me about writing.. here are the images from their day. Enjoy!

I went to Parris again!!!! And just like last year, I do mean Parris not Paris. I had the amazing pleasure yet again to capture the fun family of Mr. Will Parris of Parris Studios. This year was even better than last! Will and Jessica have the most adorable little lady on their hands. She is growing up.. well has grown up a ton from when I last saw her back in May! I could take pictures of this terrific trio all day long. Here are some of my faves form the shoot!

Charlotte has a super smile.. finding it can be tricky.. she is a bit serious, most likely because her parents dish out enough craziness for I'd say... 4 maybe 5 more kids!

Fort Worth stockyards

I'm still here in the big beautiful Texas!!! I am having so much fun we decided to stay 2 more days than planned. My little sis has been the best! I love being here spending time with her and her hubby and exploring this awesome place. One of the places she took us to was the Fort Worth StockYards. It has an old town feel with a live bull and a human maze, tons of shops and cowboys... My kids we in heaven! It was a blast! I will just move on to the faves of the day!

So what did I get, Well other thatn the great new Taylor Swift CD From my hubby and kids, I got myself a fractured ankle bone!!!! Wonderful gift right?!? Anyway, I am totally fine and have a great new shoe that I get to wear around! I will take some pictures of it one day.. maybe. I can walk around and do all my normal things. But I get to get away with more.. Like not cleaning the toys off the livingroom floor. (which my kids should do anyway) Great thing is that I can sit here with my foot up and catch up on my blogging oh and work on getting my new website up and running!!!!!

Mr. & Mrs. Danny and Brandi Reed

From the first moment I met Brandi and Danny I knew that this day would be one of the most beautiful weddings I would ever be a part of. A perfect Autumn backdrop in Big Bear. A ceremony surrounded by lush trees and fresh crisp air. A darling couple who love each other to no end and who are willing to do anything for a great picture! WOW what a day this was! Even my favorite thing in the world was there that day.. yes RAIN!!!! Rain on a wedding day, blessing indeed. Just see below all the awesome cloudly skies we had as an accessory! Oh did I mention that Brandi has her own fabulous blog and has a great spot on weddingbee.com ? I had the talented Ryel along to second shoot for the day. Brandi had one of her beautiful bridesmaids do her makeup and for the days vendors she tried to use the resources Big Bear had to offer. The catering was done by Sweet Basil Bistro and was simply perfect! They even sent 3 trays with us when we did the wedding party pictures down by the lake! Brandi and Danny rented out the Alpenhorn Bed and Breskfast for the weekend. The smooth singing Brian A. Stodart performed live music during the reception. Brian does a phenomenal job of bringing current popular songs to life as well as clasics! Brandi's Aunt and Mom did the wedding flowers themselves!

I love starting the day off with a beautiful dress! Brandi and her dress were a perfect match, just like her and Danny I have to say. I love the sweetness of her wedding dress, deffinantly "her"

How calm was Brandi? So calm.. so calm she made everyone around her happy and calm. It was so much fun watching her get ready for her day.

Brandi sent me over to the cabin where the guys had been staying and I got to deliver a gift to Danny. Here he is opening the surprise:

Some WOW details from the day: which BTW Brandi planned all along with Danny! They are really clever and keen on so many things I would have never thought of!

Brandi and her mom (who has the best name ever) .. If you can't guess or don't all ready know, her mom is Sandy!

And here we are at the ceremony. As Brandi was ready to head out the door she wanted to be sure that Danny couldn't see her. From her view right inside the B&B she could see him standing at the end of the aisle. I ran as fast as I could to ask him nicely to stop out of view. I didn't want him to be tempted to peek. He quickly did as I asked - he didn't want to be tempted either!
Once all was set I headed back out to wait with Danny for Brandi. I love the way Danny was waiting and wondering as she came down to him. Another great detail of the day was how Brandi had her Dad and Step Dad walk her down together! They did a little trade off in the center of the aisle. It was too sweet!

One of the best places to be is right here, in front of ther groom, as he sees his bride for the frst time that day. Priceless!

Not only do I love this moment, but all the faces in the background.

I was again lucky to have my big ol' camera to hide my tears!

Just as they were pronounced as man and woman it started to drizzle! It was teasing us all day with the chance of rain and then the vows were said and the kiss was given and then... the rain :) When I checked in on Brandi's blog I saw what she had to say about the weather (the day before her wedding) "I can’t wait to have our wedding outdoors in the mountains! Cold weather is moving in on our day and they’re predicting rain and 30 degree temperatures! Ahhh! And honestly, I really don’t care anymore. Because I’m marrying my best friend tomorrow. I am so, over the top, swirling around, jump to the stars from a trampoline Happy!"

So, the best thing about the day (well one of the best) was Brandi telling me "hey I thought we could hop in some cars after the ceremony and cavivan down to the lake for soem pictures"

I was climbing through the brush and dirt and I decided to turn back when I lost my shoe (which I somehow kicked 10 feet in front of me) and took that as a sign to keep moving forward.. it was worth it!

I am always asked by many many friends and family to do their family christmas portraits. I am taking on the so cool idea I have seen from other photographer friends .
You have 2 days to chose from

Saturday November 8th (9am-5pm) OR

Each session will last one hour. You can take pictures with your family or have just your kids or just you and your special person.. hey ever your pets can come! :)

Look at my Creatures : San Diego Zoo :)

We went to the zoo Last Month while down in beautfiul San Diego for a wedding. SInce I was all ready spending the night there because of the 12 hours wedding day.. I figured why not make it a family weekend! It was so much fun. For those of you have never been to the San Diego ZOO.. you must go ! It is 100 times better thatn the LA Zoo. The animals actually come out and look at you. It is shaded and cool and the whole place is beautiful! Here are my fave images from the day. I love spending time with my family and I love seeing all the awesome creatures.

The first two creatures we saw were these funny looking mamals eating some kind of frozen snack!

They seemd to be very consumed by the sweetness of the treat.

I even got one of them to take a picture with me by promising more treats later.

I saw this very attractive creature waliking on a brigde and caught up to him to get a picture.

Many of the creatures were resting.

Some were so hungry they began to eat dead trees.

The attractive one was able to catch the two funny looking ones for a moment. I couldn't resist a picture of this too,

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU DO NOT LIKE 8 Legged Creatures... DO not keep looking at this post. I do not hold myself liable for any damages you may cause to your own computer screen after viewing the next 2 images... :)
After that we saw that the creepy creatures were trying to web us into the park and we quickly ran away.. This was hard being that the webs were only 5 feet above our heads.

I can't think of anything clever to say here, just ahhhhhhh! and ewwwwwww! and that you have to walk under these webs to get down from the polar bear plunge and most people didnt even know they were there.

The funny looking creatures caught thsi giant hippo and it just gave up! The power of small children is amazing!

Catching up on my Will Parris Second shooting adventures. Way out of order here but still all good. You see, wedding images don't exppire! Good thing for me cause these are like the digital camera comercials with people stuck inside the camera frozen in mid air.... saying "please print me and set me free". Except mine are all in the multiple hard drives.... all those frozen people can be kinda loud at times :)

One of the things I love about not being the lead photog is the chance i hav eto connect with the groom and his friends. It's a bit weird at times when they realize someone they just met is taking pictures of them getting dressed (finnishing getting dressed i add!!!) and just hanging out.

Anyhow, Amber and Anthony were married this past May. It so does not seem liek ti was that long ago! The entire day was moving and amazing and so fun to be a part of. They were joined together at the Claremont Church of Christ Then held a rocking reception at the Doubletree in Monrovia

Rebecca + Jon : Married

This June I had the great pleasure of working with Will Parris. I was so busy ove the last few months and I have been so bummed that second shooting blogging was put on the way back burner. I love the group of photographer friends I have made over the past couple years and hanging out with them getting to shoot awesome weddings and meeting wonderful people is so rewarding! Another reason to love what I do every single day.

Rebecca and Jon were married at the Hacienda in Santa Ana. The grounds there are very beautiful. The cermony was so romantic and moving and both Rebecca and Jon were in tears as they saw one another for the first time. It was perfect... I cried!

Thank you Rebecca and Jon for being so in love and for getting married and for allowing Will and Myself to be there to save the special moments forever!

Do you see the things Ryel drives me to do? Funny thing is that usually the icing on a cupcake is smooth and creamy. Being that it was about 38 degrees outside and dropping..... these tops were more like candy coating sitting on a mini cake! SOoooo ooOOOO yummy.

Wow! what a fun Summer it has been.. or shall I say it was. I had so much fun at the wedding of Emily and Nate! you can refresh yourself with their beautiful faces here during their engagement session. Everything was at their home church, which I loved because I didn't have to drive around all day :) Emily was the most collected and calm bride I have seen in a long long time. Most likely because she had every detail thought out and ready to go. I don't know if it is possibly to have a love afair with a wedding dress... if there is... I totally had one with this dress! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress! Alos the rad hall way we got to shoot it in was so great for catching and delaying light! FUN FUN FUN! When I say WE, I'm reffering to Will Parris of Parris Studios. He was kind enough to come and shoot with me all day. so onto the fun stuff. . enjoy and please feel free to share your thoughts :)

It goes on for a while: It is a Maggie Sottero Gown that Emily found shop called "The Dresser" in downtown Fullerton. Every girl should shop for her dress at fun little shops.. You can get a dream wedding gown!

Here is Emily getting ready. I love pictures for their ability to create judgement in the viewers eyes. You see, you have no idea what is really going on during this quick snap of the shutter. I know of course and I always think to myself how much i wish pictures could hold some kind of caption when I take it or an audio file to go with it. I love the emotions and the stretch what they can be during the toasts. I also am diggin how Emily's dad and Nate's brother both look like they are speaking about some sort of new secret salute or hand shake.. Must be the welcome to the family high five they were practicing.. Anyway the stretch of emotions here were beautiful and moving and made me very glad to have a big ol' camera to hide behind as I held back the tear that often tries to escape!

I love September. I love it almost as much as October and November. We had an amazing September and it all started with a camping trip over Labor day weekend. We got to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge twice during or travels and here is a favorite shot I got while Alex was at the wheel. Finally I have a second to breath. To catch up a little on much needed blogging is very soothing. Not that blogging is a needed part of the way my business is, but it is a part of who I am as a photographer. Not blogging is sad. So no more frowns. I will do my best to get a couple bloge posted weekly from here to the end of the year! I have a bunch more weddings from now until Oct 12 to work my magic at. So, please stayed tuned for all the exciting Summer maddness I was a part and for the future fall fabulous posts!

You should recognize Maria and Miguel from their super cool engagement session down at Newport Beach. Their wedding day was so much fun. From the second I got there and all the way to the end! I had the great pleasure of shooting with Ryel as my second for the day. FUN! This first image was taken during the prep time at Maria's mothers home. This is the livingroom eye-catcher. I would almost say this is my favorite image... ALMOST.. I just feel it fits the day. It fit the way each wedding day for me begins. The fun and the craziness that are waiting for me as I arrive and meet all the loving family members of the bride. I love my couple so much that coming into thier homes is where my heart belongs too! My job is not a job at all. My heart has been in it for ever, Since the very first time I learne dto take pictures. This is where I belong. My heart is at home!

Maria was right in the middle of make up when I got there! She looked stunning of course.

Decing to go outside with the dress can be a challenge. But lucky me I have such sweet bride who let me have this wonderful freedom. And below is the result.

The wonderful Dave and Rachel are getting married next month. When asking them where to shoot their engagement session, Pasadena was on the list. I, of course, said yes! Being from the lovely area (born in the very city) makes me love being there. Well, that and the fact that you can shoot their for days and days and never run short on creative possibilities. I had the amazing pleasure of hanging out with the beautiful little Holly for some birthday portraits. I love getting the honor of taking pictures for my friends and family. You may remember this charming lady from last summer when I did her 2-year-old pictures at the Santa Monica Pier. This year we went down to my favorite place in the world.. DISNEYLAND!

Holly is really into Mickey Mouse right now so she was a blast to chase after! And this year I didn't loose my cell phone! :)

Well, ok.. I am a little biased on this one. And I did just blog-post-hop their wedidng. So here for you all is my favorite wedding post and couple ever, My sister Erin and her Hubby Adrian AKA Mr and Mrs An.

The weekend was amazing. Amazingly busy and amazingly fun. Amazingly beautiful and amazingly emotional! Thats a lot to fit into one weekend, but being on the close side of all the planning and excitement really adds up and lends to the making of many many well AMAZING memories! Really it was about 2 weeks leading upto the big date 6-7-8, which made the moment even more spectacular. I cry.. I admit it.. at every ceremony. Luckily I have this huge bulk of plastic and metal and glass to hide behind. But this one was more of an incredible happiness and release of energy for which I felt so happy to be a part of the moment and the whole creation of the day. The wedding drew in floks from all over the country. I think there might have been more out of state guests than CA peeps. We had the wonderful help of friend and family in the days leading up to the wedding. Which is where my most loved and remembered and cherished moment stems from. On Friday, the day before the wedding, as the clock was racing toward the deadline to leave my house and head for the Hotel.... I got this feeling. It was a feeling of completeness and incredible happiness. I was standing in my kitchen rolling out the last of the fondont for Erin's cake. In the room with me were about 4 other people helping in each thier own way with various last minute tasks. In the living room just steps away from me was crying from my little nephew, Devyn, and our good friends son, Jared... but not upset or sad just the kind of making noise to let those around know they were there cry. My two little ones were running around the house, my brother, his girlfriend, my hubby, my baby sis her friend ... all were fussing around the house - packing the cars-- among other things. THE HOUSE WAS LOUD if you don't yet get the picture. For a minute I just stopped and stood there listening and looking.. at all the love and all the life inside my house. All the people who were helping to make My sisters wedding happen in so many kind and selfless ways. The LIFE moving and breathing and crying and running and working... in my house. This was .. this IS the moment I love most about the wedding.

Dress design was done by Erin and put together by my genuis mother Nancy Johnston who mad eit from scratch! She also made her own dress in 1975 and mine in 2002.. Who's next you say? Anyway she is slowing being pushed (by me and others) into the full time seamstress position that she always should have held. Hey why not.. my friends and family did it to me and now I do what I LOVE everyday of my life!

Erin and Adrian were married at hill top ceremony in Dana Point CA at Heritage Prak. An intimate group of 75 close friends and family gathered. I coulnd not have pulled off the whole wedding photographer / matron of honor gig if it weren't for the rockin Mr. Will Parris of Parris Studios.

The 3 beautiful flower girls: Aleese (our awesome friends from Washington), Kayti (our cousin who will one day make a movie called 27 flower girl dresses!) and my little baby, Susie (no comment needed)

Everyone is laughing here because Erin and Adrian almost kissed! It had been a long day (as all wedding days are) and I think they were more than ready to seal the deal.. that's why everyone in the picture is laughing!

I had a front row seat for this shot.... So cute is that erin realized they could pour together and instead I heard her sweet voice "a little bit of yours.. little bit of mine.. little bit of yours little bit of mine"

I have been so much anticipating the blog post of this awesome duo... Danny and Brandi are indeed engaged. They contacted me a few months ago about their wedding that will take place this coming October. I instantly hit it off with Brandi, who was more than eager to meet over coffee and discuss details. We took these beautiful pictures a few weeks ago in the quirky downtown area of newport near the Lido Theater. I always make my couples pick where we do their engagement session because it makes for more than just a great background.. there usually is some kind of meaning in the location. Well, they chose a hot spot and the shooting possibilities were endless!!! I can't find words to describe how sweet these two are! I really think the pictures show the love and the passion they have for each other. They were married at the LDS chapel in Glendora CA (my home town) and although I wasn't permited to take pictures during the ceremony... Listening from the open door in the hall was just as much a treat for me. I was holding my camera the entire time just itching to snap a few ... even just one picture, but I respect the rules of a sacred place way to much to break them. And if I had somehow plucked up the courage to push ever so gently on that shutter button.... it would have echoed and drawn attention torawd my shy little self and then what????

One of the coolest parts of the day, just as ever wedding day I am so privilaged to eb a part of, was seeing the 2 families come together and create a memorable day for the newly weds. Most of all was Nick's adorable son Austin, who was of course the ring bearer.

I just can't help but share the amazing news... My friends Justin & Amelia Lyon just won 2008-2009 bludomain photographers of the year! I owe a lot to them. If it weren't for Amelia always being such a sweet heart and encouraging me to take the wedding photography plunge... (sooner then later thankfully) then I would most likely still be fighting with my self about it. Amelia-Thanks for being a great waitress with me and for showing me how much more fun it is to be a photographer. I will continue to look towards Justin and Amelia for inspiration and support, as friends and photographers!

I am so blessed to have clients that continue to ask me to take pictures during those key moments in the lives of their families. I have had the amazing pleasure of photographing the Gabaldon Family for more than a year. When Stephannie told me about her middle son, Jaden, needing his birthday pics for this year I was so excited to get to see them all again and even more to have some one on one time with this amazing little guy! Most moms to a 3-year-old boy know how much fun and laughter go into each day and the level of energy is defiantly part of the fun! Lucky me having a boy of the same age had me well prepared for this shoot :) We of course, because I am the weather queen, met on the first super hot weekend of the year-it must have been over 100 out. I was sweat-en it up, but Jaden was the best and didn't let the heat slow him down! He was all smiles for our hour together and he was more than pleased with all the props and toys his amazing mommy brought along. Here is Jaden's fun little slideshow

Jones Family Portraits

The Jones family is a wonderful handful of fun. We met and became friends through my daughters' school and I was thrilled when Mom, Christy, asked me to take some fun family pictures. Her husband Gary mentioned to her that it would be really fun to take some shots in a mustard field. (My fave kind of thing) Christy thought I would hate this idea and have no interest in following them around town stopping where ever we felt! I told her this was called a photographers dream.. and the next weekend we were in that mustard field playing around with their 3 amazing children and family dog, Lady. I can't stress how much fun each one of Gary and Christy's children are. They each have their own set of amazing talents and adorable personalities. I have been so eager to post these images. My amazing little brother came into this world! I really doesn't seem like that much time has passed. I remember sitting and waiting to hear the news of the healthy, beautiful little baby who came into this world at 7 pounds and 11 ounces. Though he is much bigger than that now, and way taller than I am ( which still trips me out each time I get a giant hug from him).. he is now and will forever be my baby brother. Thank you for not being too much of a pain in the rear all those years. Thanks for making me an auntie! Happy 18th to you David. Wish you were close by, so because of the distance, please give yourself a little big sister hug from me.

Edit: I spent the most amazing 1st wedding of the year with my friends Mr. and Mrs. James Brown. They held a beautiful ceremony at the Lindley Scott house in Azusa CA on May 3rd. It was perfect weather and an amazing setting. And Tiffany + James put so much into the planning of the day, nothing was overlooked. It was so much fun to be there with their guests and my second shooter Will Parris of Parris Studios.
We started our morning at the Courtyard Marriott in Monrovia where I met up with the ladies who were getting their hair and make up done by the fabulous Mariah Nicole.

The Lindley Scott house was beautiful and had just the staircase I had been searching for!

Tiffany was flawless and happy and so much fun to capture.

Awesome Rascal Flatts Concert With My Mom!

On April 11th my mother and I made traveled north towards San Jose CA for to visit the best Country Music Band at one of the best venues in the state! The HP pavilion in San Jose served us the Boys of Rascal Flatts on a silver platter, front row leaning on the stage grabbing at jeans and boots. But this was a few years back. 2008 however proved to be a bit more sheltered and restricted. We were in row 13 seats 13-14 and sad because the not so nice (language super watered down here) wouldn't let me take my camera in. Well, my real camera that is. They claimed that any camera with a detachable lens is considered professional!!! What are they thinking? Professional photographers don't bring their cameras to concerts.. It's totally just a hobby of mine.. right... anyway after fighting the rules for 30 minutes (and not wanting to miss out on the cutest opening act ever) I gave in a checked my "hobby" camera at the security desk. So, i did have a back up, my Canon SD800 / IXUS 850. I had fun getting all the settings to work with the crazy hot white light they use as spotlights now.. and hey a little bitt o' grain is good for your heath! So, I got the right idea and got a few beautiful images to enjoy and love forever. So thank-you to my wonderful mother for taking me along again. Her 13th time (seat 13) and my 14th (seat 14) ! Oh and the awesome opening act, the adorable Miss Taylor Swift.
I have way too many pictures to post, so many I'll make a slideshow in the future.......But for now I will start by over-posting images of my fave member of the band, Joe Don Rooney

First off I have to tell you of the love/hate e-mail I have received over the past 2 weeks begging for new blog content! It is great to know I'm being watched and I love all the hate mail.. really I do. So here is as promised the last engagement session I had the pleasure to work on and a promise to all you blog stalkers out there that I will be blogging everyday for a month starting today, April 20th. Trisha and Nick met me in the beautiful city of Rancho Cucamonga for their engagement session. The skies were evenly covered with clouds and kindly keeping us hydrated with light mists --- even though we didn't ask for the moisture! I have to say what great spirits these two are! They were fine with the moody California weather and had a lot of fun keeping each other warm.
I had such a blast photographing Trisha and Nick. They both have these crazy beautiful intense eyes and the overcast sky was totally helping me out in capturing them! I am really looking forward to the wedding in June! check out the slide-show here

The first Friday of every month is flag salute Friday. This month the site council at my daughters school decided to honor 2 parents who served our country by presenting them with honorary care packages. The packages were extra special because they were made by students from my daughters class. I had brought my camera as a last minute grab on my way out the door as we let for school, and it was such a beautiful moment to capture. Here are the 2 students giving their parents the care packs after the Pledge of Allegiance was delivered and the National Anthem had been sang. I found that there are many many websites helping get care packages to our men and women serving over seas.

So, how lucky am I that it was pouring rain when my awesome couple, Danny & Kim, had decided on Malibu for their engagement pictures. We decided to shoot anyway, but played it safe and went to the Claremont Colleges. It ending up perfect! The college provided many covers for us to shoot under while still letting us use the beautifully defused light of the day. When I'm shooting my couples during their engagement session, I think about what I will write later on my blog when I post the fun pictures. The best way to get some great commentary going is to mention my blog itself. I often use weird words or phrases to get a giggle or smile out of my couples while discussing this. Kim and Danny really didn't need any help in this department. They came up with their own caption ( which is hidden somewhere in this post. ) If i gave them my own personal caption it would be *Kim + Danny, rockstars extraordinaries * Here are a ton of great images from our rainy day. ... I had to keep asking Kim to turn her model magic off. She is so great in front of the camera and really knows how to get Danny to respond to my camera as well. Once you get to know me, my style is more of "let me take pictures of you just being together" rather than " smile and say CHEESE" .. Anyway I finally decided to let Kim have her moment and play around.. so of course she says " what am I supposed to do?" I say.. :do what I have been telling you to stop.. ya know pump it up .. show me some attitude!" OH.. that.. so here they are the coolest couple ever looking not at all awkward or unusual ! :)

I can not beleive that 15 years ago I was in the room with her as she entered this world. It was a wonderful moment that I will never forget. Thanks to our mom for knowing what defines a beatiful memory and letting us take part in that day. I love that i was able to be with her very first day of school.. watching her grow .. seeing her turn into a super aunt... and Just spending time with her. i hold her as close to my heart as I do my kids. She is the funkiest girl I know. So beautiful and strong. FUll of life and love and interesting comments! She is hosnest at times in life when you don't know wether to get mad of laugh at what comes out of her pretty little head!

I first met with Tiffany and James last year after being sent to them by my good friend Courtney. We met for coffee and got down to business and booked their wedding for this coming May. I ended up sitting with Tiffany (James had a ball game to get to) just talking about her awesome wedding for almost 2-hours. I really can't wait for their wedding day. The site is amazing, the details I'm sure will be and Tiffany + James are as cute as can be! This is going to be one cool wedding.

Originally we had spoke of shooting their e-session before Christmas, but those crazy holidays took over and here we are just over 2 months before the wedding. Well, we lucked out on the weather (um.. rain... every Saturday.... what is going on) and we even got their super sweet pup, Snoop, in for some fun shots. I have to tell you how great T+J were in front of the camera, perfect at the sweet whispers and great little laughs, all made for beautiful pictures. So, no more waiting. Here are a bunch of my favorites from our shoot at Pasadena City Hall.

Over the past year (well almost a year) I have had the great pleasure of taking pictures for the Gabaldon family. It all started when Stephannie called me last year to get some new born pictures of her youngest son, Justin. So, he is alomost a year-old and I was so pleased to hear that Justn's mommy wanted more pics of him. We had a blast at Craig park in Brea with this little early walker. He started at 9.5 months! WOW! We had sooooo much fun, he got a cupcake and a cookie and balloons! He will be one next month. Happy Birthday big boy Justin! I have tooo many pictures that I can say are my faves! Maria and Miguel are extra special, and not just becasue they brought me yummy sugar cookies on the dat f their e-session, but becasuse they called me at the start of last summer looking to book me for this coming summer. They were the first to inquire about my 08 season and it got me super excited to kick off my summer calendar when they booked me. We had a blast down in Newport. It was such a beautiful day with bright blue skies, which made photographing this beautiful couple even better!!! We spent the entire time in th same little area near Crystal Cove. I enjoy so much the time I get to spend with my couples during these shoots! I love getting to know them and finding out what makes a great picture of the two of them. What club you say? Well.. the uber-cool 5D club that is. Oh yes! I just joined, yesterday in fact. So, okay, it's not an acutual club. But I plan to make one. For anyone not clear on what my craziness is.. basically I bought my amazing Canon 5D Camera. I love love love it. I shot an engagement session on it yesterday and have another today! I'm so excited. Oh and I got a new lens too. Which I hve been needing bad! A beautiful new 70-200 f4. I really will love this awesome lightweight magical friend of a lens when all my summer weddings roll around. I went with the lightest posible workable telephoto because i love my neck and back too much to keep shooting with the 2.8. HAPPY=ME!

I have the coolest couples. I seriously feel so blessed to have the chance to work with so many fun, beautiful, loving, cool, and just well... AMAZING couples. Today was in no way an exception to this trend. When I booked Miguel and Maria back in August I knew that they were going to be a blast. I will be posting a full set of images from thier engagement session later in the week. But for now here are my fave 2 so far. Oh and how sweet are they.. they brought me a treat. They are so much fun, I wish they lived close to me and I could see them everyday! I can't wait for the wedding in June. I am so sure it will be here sooner than we know it. I had so much fun. Thanks to my dad for the tix and for inviting us to come along. ALEX, yes Alex went to a country concert with me. But I guess it wasn't just a country concert.. It was GARTH BROOKS!!!!

you can really tell that he appreciates his gift to make music and write songs and to live the life that he does and be able to touch so many people in so many ways!

This past Saturday was so much fun! I had the best time shooting with not one, but two of my fave photographer friends. As many of you know I have been working for the fabulous Drewb since earlier last year, and I love it every time. Well, she is ready to be a mom, like any day now, and she decided to back up her awesome style with the fantastic Trista Lerit as well as the fabulous ME! She even brought along her hard working hubby Chuck. I usually just hang with Drew the whole time, but being that the 3 of us all together looked like a crazy bridal paparazzi, I had the great privilage of shooting the guys getting ready. It was a lot of fun to say the least. Tyson and his friends were in such good spirits. And surprizingly they were very much into what they were wearing. Crazy cool and totally in fashion, these guys headed over to the ebell club in Long Beach looking just as hot as the ladies... well almost!
So usually I say here.. the dress.. today it is the suit:

Tyson and his boys were joking around about how much photography was worth and how a single picture is worth a thousand words.. they were being crazy as I was shooting and claiming that now with our awesome digital capacity, pitcures are worth millions and millions of words! I think they are right. Here is the man of the day as he was finished preparing for the day:

Going down to the hotel lobby: I swear they looked like the gang from Ocean's 11, just with a much better agenda for the afternoon oh and a few men short!

Both of their moms were spying in on the first look, and it was really just a great moment for everyone, as you can see: I think all Drew, Trista and myself were all jsut a teary-eyed as these 2 proud mamas!

I love these pictures. They are all from 2006, but I wasn't blogging then and I want to share them with you. I sometimes feel like the digital camera comercials where all the people stuck inside the unprinted pictures are talking directy to me. So lets say if the pictures are posted on the blog, then they are set free from the giant trap of my harddrive and no longer need to discuss a break-out plan!

I have yet to post any pictures from my wonderful 2 week adventure full of 100's of Christmas and family memories, but here I have evidence of the most entertaining New Years Eve gig ever! I was so glad that I took the chane to work again with the talented Will Parris of Parris Studios. We spent the afternoon and evening documenting the wedding and awesome party of Autumn & Jeff. I'll start off with this fun pic of Will working hard! Thanks for being a cool photog to hang out with. Your energy is an inspiration!

After a few shots at the church, we headed over to the famous Turnip Rose , Newport location, for the reception and some moody, newlywed shots.

And onto the party. Of course this was more than just your average wedding reception. this was an exceptionaly fun night full of friends, family and Drinks! The Turnip Rose is amazing and historic and just outright beautiful. Here is my Fave shot of the day! the awesome twinkling lights on the ceiling! It was so beautiful and romantic, and really intimate. it felt like they were the only ones in the room. they really were able to enjoy their first dance as a married couple.
